Fit test

Is this the right way to build your site?

Good fit

  • Launching a new business or product
  • Replacing a site you've outgrown
  • A clear core offer
  • One decision-maker available during the week
  • A marketing site rather than a complex application

Probably not

  • A complex authenticated product
  • A large content migration
  • Multiple stakeholder approval layers
  • Extensive custom integrations
  • A proposition that needs a longer discovery phase

If you're somewhere between the two, tell me what you're building. I'll tell you whether I'd use Website in a Week or scope it differently.

The working week

Seven days, with a decision and an output at each stage.

  1. Mon

    Scope + structure

The sitemap, page priorities and content requirements are agreed.

  2. Tue

    Wireframes + content

Core layouts and messages are shaped into a complete page structure.

  3. Wed

    Visual direction

The homepage establishes the type, colour and interface direction for the site.

  4. Thu–Sat

    Build + iterate

I build the agreed pages, connect forms and analytics, and share working previews.

  5. Sun / 07

    Final checks + launch

Responsive checks, deployment and handover complete the week.

The finished site

What goes live at the end of the week

  1. 01

    Up to seven core pages

The agreed page set, built around one clear offer and route to action.

  2. 02

    Responsive design and build

Layouts tested across mobile, tablet and desktop breakpoints.

  3. 03

    Forms and core interactions

Enquiry forms, navigation and agreed interface behaviour connected and checked.

  4. 04

    SEO foundations

Page titles, descriptions, semantic structure, sitemap and social sharing metadata.

  5. 05

    Analytics

Your chosen analytics tool connected before launch.

  6. 06

    Deployment

The production site deployed and connected to your domain.

  7. 07

    Handover

A walkthrough of the finished site and the practical details needed to run it.

01

What I need from you

  • One decision-maker
  • Availability during the week
  • Existing brand assets, if available
  • Product or service knowledge
  • Timely, consolidated feedback

02

What I handle

  • Structure and page hierarchy
  • Visual design
  • Engineering and responsive implementation
  • Forms, analytics and technical setup
  • Deployment and launch checks

Scope + boundaries

Fixed scope is how seven days works.

The constraint keeps decisions quick, the work coherent and the launch date real. Anything outside it is visible before we start.

Included

  • Up to seven agreed marketing pages
  • One wireframe review and one visual design review
  • A final build-polish pass
  • Forms, analytics, SEO setup and deployment

Outside the one-week scope

  • Authenticated products or customer portals
  • Large migrations or extensive copywriting
  • Complex third-party integrations
  • Open-ended revisions or multi-team approvals

Buying questions

Before you book the week

Is seven days actually realistic?+

Yes, when the scope is agreed before the week starts and one decision-maker can give prompt feedback. The schedule is designed around those constraints.

Do I need content ready?+

Bring what you have. I will identify the gaps before kickoff and help structure the key messages, but substantial copywriting isn't included in the week.

What if I need more than seven pages?+

I will prioritise the pages needed for launch. Additional pages or reusable templates can be scoped separately after the initial site is live.

What happens after launch?+

You receive a handover and can run the site independently. If there is a useful next phase, I can scope ongoing improvements as a separate engagement.

What isn't included?+

Complex applications, large migrations, extensive copywriting, custom integrations and open-ended revision cycles sit outside this format.

Availability

Tell me what you're launching and when you need it.

I only run a small number of these each month so I can stay directly involved in every build. I'll tell you whether the one-week format fits.
